Generous Offer via Heritage for a MPL

I rarely bid in auctions because of the exorbitant buyer premium, but have participated a time or two. Just received the following message from Heritage:

    "
An anonymous Heritage client has made an offer of $3,300 - $2,970.00 after Heritage's commission of *10% ($40 minimum per lot) - on the following item.

Our records indicate that on July 14th, 2019 you bought the item for $1,740.00 from Heritage Auctions. If you accept, you will receive 70.7% more than what you originally paid, minus any shipping and other costs you’ve incurred.
    "

Below is a link to the MPL that I won graded PCGS PR64RD with CAC. I bid because I think even on its worst day the coin is a 64 all day long. Also the eye appeal is outstanding for the grade even if it was graded 65. At its current grade it is $1650. in the PCGS price guide.

I firmly feel that if one buys quality that there will be ongoing demand for it in the future. However, in this case I don't understand why someone would offer that much over the going rate.

All I can think of is that CAC bump in price that a lot of collectors pay. Beautiful coin. Looks better than a 64 all day to me.

Not to take anything away but does the coin look like the true view? The reason I ask is that they tend to juice the color at PCGS. Other than that, I would bet its a dealer confident it can get another grade on a crack out. Or, as we have recently seen, some new collectors are not smart.

It is a one heck of a coin.

        Bob,

Yes, in this case the True View is very accurate. But I know what you mean in cases where the image is nothing like the coin. For example, my 1909 VDB MPL was imaged as:

whereas my own picture attached through the plastic better represents the coin in hand.

Excellent examples. So these are not Proofs.

Hmmm, what does the M stand for in M Proof Like?

Can I please have a glass of artificial intelligence? I'm running a little low.

                  Bob,

Yes I knew you were a MPL "Guru". Your registry set appears to be #17 currently.

Mine is number 14 under the name Veronica.

You are certainly one I would reach out to when I have questions/issues in that area.

                  Regards,
                  Hurst

These are my favorite subgroup under the Lincoln series.

My first thought would be to make sure the message isn't an attempt at phishing.

However, the coin looks spectacular, and from the pic, I think the people at PCGS couldn't read their own handwriting, and put a 4 down instead of a 9 on there.
