MAD clash I think. But I wonder how only a single letter is involved. Too bad about the staining.

Most of the MAD clashes involve the negative area around the letter on the opposing face, more so than the outline or an impression. That said I am not sure what you have, but I can look at it and try and determine.

Sorry, I just checked back on this post. Yes, it is raised. Although, under severe magnification, it does not appear to be raised significantly. So, it is possible that something adhering to the coin may have disturbed the metal sufficiently to raise it.Last edited by Roller; 04-07-2012, 07:04 AM.Comment

If it is raised I don't see it being a clash, maybe either some form of PMD that are not going to be able to guess a cuase; or maybe a die dent; or maybe an odd plating issue (but I doubt it).
