    Error Die Clash/Break | 2005 MAD clash

MAD clash I think. But I wonder how only a single letter is involved. Too bad about the staining.

Are you referring to the half circle on the rim between the O & W? (where's waldo?)

Interesting. Is it incuse or raised? I can't think of what letter it could be, even as a MAD clash. I'll be interested to see what Jason and others have to say. Good luck with it George.

Most of the MAD clashes involve the negative area around the letter on the opposing face, more so than the outline or an impression. That said I am not sure what you have, but I can look at it and try and determine.

I realize that the dimensions do not look right for and O or part of C for "cent" on the reverse. It does not apper to be PMD. So, if it's not a clash what is it? The only other thing I can come up with is a counter MDC.

Not sure, but I am thinking this may be part of the stain.

Sorry, I just checked back on this post. Yes, it is raised. Although, under severe magnification, it does not appear to be raised significantly. So, it is possible that something adhering to the coin may have disturbed the metal sufficiently to raise it.

If it is raised I don't see it being a clash, maybe either some form of PMD that are not going to be able to guess a cuase; or maybe a die dent; or maybe an odd plating issue (but I doubt it).
