Looks to me like PSD... Maybe from sitting in plastic... The older plastics had chemicals that would cause the plastic to deteriorate when exposed to high heat (Heat over 100 F) for extended periods of time... The plastic would stick to what ever it was against and leave designs much like this... Acetone may or may not remove the material!!!Jim

Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!

The last pics I posted looks to show the copper Jim but I'm beginning to think it's PSD too.Looks to me like PSD... Maybe from sitting in plastic... 8 spotted sea trout and a pompano?Yes, partially to tease Roger. Glorious day in Miami yesterday. Morning temp in the 60s and low 80s during the day with a nice breeze all day. Picture of sunrise on Biscayne Bay as we put in.
If the anom is adhered to the coin it would be raised (that's why I'm suggesting the acetone bath) if it is not adhered, the cracks or crinkling may have developed after the strike (possibly because of a thin plating that did not take well to the force of the strike). Just theorizing here. I doubt that anyone can definitively state the cause and in that vein I should not have originally opined the this "could not be PSD". Mea culpa.
Glorious day on the water George.Comment

Wanted to respond earlier but needed to lay hands on my coin .
Jon , could your coin show stress lines/cracks in the plating ? Here is one of mine that shows some wild ones .
John
So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. JohnComment
