Error Other | Doubled down on the wavy line reverse.

Well I came across another wavy line reverse ("Snail trails"?) in a CWR.
And this time I propped that sucker up on an angle to get some clear images.
the lines must be on the die face since I found a second one with the same lines, but for the life of me I can't figure out how it got there.
Thanks for looking and enjoy. Cliff

That is really odd looking Cliff. So this one is exactly the same as the other one you found? Especially below ONE CENT where the two lines are somewhat running parallel with each other. My thoughts are the mint workers were being careless with this die and it got scratched up.

      Yes, exactly the same.
And if you think about it, the lines are on the deep parts of the die face to show up on the devices like this.
That is why I was wondering if it could be a similar error to Stoneman's coin he sent to Mike. I believe they were raised also.
(Must have been some mint workers drunken pet snails that got loose and ran amok on the back of that die.)

Okay, exactly the same then I would also think drunken pet snails...errr... die damage to be the culprit! You crack me up and I have not had coffee yet LOL... the beep just went off, going to retrieve now!

That is so crazy looking Cliff! I didn't have to look for these, fantastic pics! I would think Mike would like to get his hands on this. I'm very curious to see what the outcome will be. Very nice finds!

I agree with you Jon, it would be cool if Mike could take a look at this. It's not the usual die scratch damage we normally see. I looked at Cliff's post of the first one he found and a light bulb went off, wondering if it has something to do with thermal heat when the die was made because it looks wavy and melted.

I had to prop it up on an angle to get the light to reflect the right way. Also I think this one has deeper/stronger details.
I don't think it is grease because none of the devices are missing or plugged. (I couldn't see much on the other thread with the link to Frank's coin except for a few missing letters in LIBERTY.)
Here are a few more images.

These photos are very good Cliff, so are your other ones! This is really bizarre looking, some of the scratches are double lines that run parallel for a ways then separate and go different directions (at ONE and below E of Cent)! Did you send a PM to Mike Diamond?

No, I wasn't sure about doing that or not.
But I guess I will with your encouragement. Thanks.

While haven't encountered this type of imperfection before, I suspect it's a plating issue. I could certainly be wrong on this.

Thanks Mike for checking this out.
But can a plating issue occur exactly the same way on two coins. (I found two of them)
That's why I was thinking it was a die issue.

Cliff, I was just going to ask you if the two coins were exactly the same. Could not remember since they are in two different threads. That does make it seem like a die issue. It will be interesting to see what Mike thinks!
