Error Lamination | 1948-S with a lamination error on the reverse.

Sat here in New Jersey yesterday watching the snow fall and searching customer rolls. During the search, I found this 1948-S with a Lam on the reverse.

Nice find, Mark!! Looks like the lam got away. If it's not damage, it looks like you have an unlisted spike head too. There is 1 48P, 1 48D and yours would make 1 48S.

Nice find Mark... I see what looks like a lamination peel but that's not all... To me it looks like a struck thru foreign object??? The edges of the area are sharp in appearance other than circ wear... I also do not see any remnant of the NW section from the O in ONE??? There is crumpled metal consistent with a lamination that has been displaced... Here is the info from Error Ref on Struck Through... Notice hoe the edges of struck thrus are sharp in appearance... Hope that helps a bit!!!

Thanks for spotting that. I don't think it is damage. Do you think I should submit it?

Now you guys have my head spinning!! It does look like it may be a struck through. I always say that the members here have more knowledge about errors then I could ever hope to learn.

I think I would. I don't usually send them in anymore unless they are extreme or like this one, unique to the date/mm.

I took a closeup of Lincoln's head and the spike does not appear. I guess it was caused by the lighting in the first picture.
Thanks again for all your information.

There may have been nothing there to begin with. Sometimes they are faint enough that the light has to hit them just right and those are not good candidates for listings anyway. Maybe you'll run across another 48S with a good one.

I would have thought for sure that was a spike... Thanks for the follow up!!!
