    circulated 70S small date?

is this a small date? the 9 looks right to me and the 0 looks like it would be level with the 7 if the 0 didn't take a hit. It is difficult to tell the strength of liberty due to the circulation. thanks for the help!

I see a circulated large date.

I see a circulated small date. (If the 9 did not take a hit that I can't see.)

I'm also thinking small date, unless there's a hit on the nine.

Sorry I have to agree that is a large date. The 7 is nowhere near the same level as the 9 and the tail of the 7 is far below the 0.

A shot of Liberty may be able to clear this up definitively.

                      It's a LD.
The date is clearly a LD, the 7 is the large style. The inside curl of the 9 is slightly hit or a little pushed so it's less clear that it's blunt but it isn't a SD.

No question the coin is a large date. The first response should have been left alone because it is correct.

It really isn't a matter of opinion and agreeing. It's either a large date or a small date. There is no "in-between". If the zero is higher than the 7, it's a large date. If the bottom of the 7 drops below the bottom of the zero, it's a large date. This coin clearly matches both of those criteria. Wear or damage in other areas forces one to make decisions based on other criteria, which is why it is important to know all the PUPs (about a half dozen of them) for making the determination as to which design the coin is.
