I think MrMike's overlay speaks for itself. They aren't even close to being the same die (RPM-001). As far as it being an RPM, I am not certain of that either. I agree that it would require an in hand examination.
PCGS MS62 BN 1911D-1MM-001 .....Maybe??

Sorry for jumping the gun on this one, I certainly didn't mean to mislead. As other stated earlier in the thread I though it was just the angle at which the pictures were taken; the overlay clearly has the coin in questions MM further south. There does seem to be a lot going on with the MM though, so I'm in agreement that this should be look at further by more seasoned hands. Would be cool if it's a discovery piece.Comment

Looking at the coin pics not sure its even a RPM at all. The area that shows what looks like doubling isn't even the correct size to be another D. The one split has to be north or south of the original D itself. Both the splits are inside the D. That being said I believe its die wear is all and no RPM sorry.Life is not about greatness but on the impact of good onto others. It is a matter of how much one shines. Explains why I like shiny coins.Comment

Weakness around the "O" in ONE plagued the entire wheat series because of metal flow into the deep shoulder area of Lincoln(and also the corresponding area of the Memorial series until they went with a shallower relief.) I would never consider that as a marker for any variety.
I'm also in agreement that I don't believe this is an RPM.Last edited by jallengomez; 04-02-2015, 06:13 PM.“What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”Comment

I feel as though I owe everyone that contributed to this post a bit of an apology. I gave it my all but the truth is my photos simply did not give a clear view of this coin. I did finally manage to get some straight-on shots for mintmark orientation but as far as a realistic close-up of the MM goes, I never really got it. Truth is I wanted you guys to see this one even if it WASN'T an RPM! It's just a cool mintmark either way and is just aching to be analyzed by all you Wheat wizards on here! All that said, perhaps there is some good that can come from me wasting your time with low quality photos. There is a lesson to be learned here for all you newbies out there and for repeat offenders like myself : No matter how cool your coin is, no matter how excited you are, even if you are 1000% certain you have the greatest variety/error EVER found, if YOU can't see it on your screen, they can't see it on their screen either! I really appreciate the time and knowledge you pros on here put in- for FREE- and from now on I will act like it and post accordingly!
Whew! I need some Eggnog!Comment
