Congratulations Jon and Well done Jim. Always nice to put a "can" coin in the plus column with an accurate attribution.

Congrats Jon! This has been a really fun thread to follow and I just saw that you now have an attribution for your 68D doubled die! Great overlays and help from Jim, and it was very nice of Dr. Wiles to allow his photo to be used! Way to go!

Jon sent this coin to me for an in hand look... This one is a stumper for me As I thought the circ wear makes this more difficult because it obscures some of the notching/seapration... While the date/MM overlay matches with VVs 003 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...968DDDO003.htm the notching/separation on the I of IN does not look correct to me... It may be the image of IN on VVs 003 is blurry and obscures the Is notching/separation... The I looks closer to VVs 002 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...968DDDO002.htm which crosses some what to CCs 002 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds but there is no image of IN for comparison... I also noticed that the date/MM images do not appear to match but that may be the image on VV appears to be at an angle and CCs looks straight on... While I am still convinced Jons coin is VVs 003 I thought putting this info out there was important... Thanks for letting me look at this coin Jon... I really appreciate it!!!

Thanks Jim, very nice pics as always!! I don't think I realized how crusty the coin was until I checked out your full coin shots. Sorry, should have soaked this guy for a bit before I sent it to you.
So maybe it's extreme similarity to the 002 is what blinded me from paying any attention to the date, mm. That's what I'm going with!
