          I agree with Billy 100%. I will always ask for the coin to be sure. In this case, the coins was in good hands, and it was an opinion only. Great pics Billy!

            Always interesting how it can all be in the lighting and photography. I couldn't tell much from the images in the OP, but it looked like machine doubling at the time. Of course Billy's image shows that even that much wasn't there.

              From this 1988S I have been taught one very valuable lesson. See the coin in detail or buy it already graded, unless it is someone you trust. Go to the dealer and see the coin in person. I have been fooled by the glare on this coin as the pics were taken outside on my deck. When in doubt have it authenticated especially when it is big $$$$.
