We've been blessed with 2 amazing boys- Seamus (shay-mus, kinda like Sean) and Liam. Seamus is the 9 year old "Baby Whisperer". When all else fails and Liam's fussy- we beg his big brother to put a smile on his face (it's NEVER not worked).
Liam was born 5 weeks premature due to natural pregnancy complications. But the amazing little bugger has-no kidding- slept through the night since he was 4 months old (3 months old actually, if you use is expected due date of Sept 21).
One day last week when the "Baby Whisperer" was stuck in his 4th grade class, Liam was busy cutting a new tooth. We'd tried EVERYTHING, including a few remedies that I'd never heard of. Nothing worked. Anna was screaming-baby exhausted, and I promised her I'd keep things under control while she caught a short nap. Nothing was working still.
I hauled Liam down to my home office in his favorite baby carrier- a USPS mail bin! He was still fussy, and I reached for the nearest safe teething toy- a PCGS slab.
Instantly- as soon as he had the coin in his hands, HE LIT UP! And laughed and smiled. Was the second time this punk made me cry (both moments of extreme joy). It wasn't that he liked it for a second- he was FULLY entertained by the '17-S cent. He held it, shook it, tasted it and laughed for nearly 30 minutes! He'd never had a coin in his hands, and for some reason, refused to set the coin down. I'm not exaggerating, it was hard to believe- so I took a photo of the moment he got the coin, and another on the same camera setting (don't know how to explain the over-exposure appearance) a few moments later. You'll see what brought tears to my eyes!
