baseball card collectors whose your favorite team

I know that some are gonna poop all over me for asking this in this forum. But the fact is everyone has other interests. My favorites the cardinals. I was wondering yours because i would like to discuss it off site with you. I have recently began collecting high end cards autographs jerseys bats etc. Nothings for sale just looking to chat if you silently agree that we can chat about other things in private contact me. and since i know what you guys like ill say this i pulled a 1968 S cent last week and a 1943 canadian see i can make off topic post relavent. For the haters out there lol

I don't have a favorite team because I don't collect baseball cards, I collect lincoln cents. That's why I belong to a forum called the Lincoln Cent Resource, and not a forum called the "baseball card resource".....you would have better luck asking the question elsewhere else....

I'm going to break with friends here that I know will be critical of you kingofcoins. I think you are trying to share your interests among others who also have an interest in Lincoln Cents. You had a title that was indicative of what you were talking about, and it was posted in the "Off Topic" section. No harm; no foul. I'm a member of another forum where some of the most commented upon threads are titled, "Currently Drinking", "Currently watching", "Currently Listening To"....While these threads have nothing to do with the subject of the forum, they have been a source of entertainment for us all, and a way to get to know each other better. They were also posted in the "Off Topic" section, and no one has raised their spines about them. I know that while this forum is about Lincoln Cents, Lincoln Cents do not wholly define me, and I often want to share other things with potentially like-minded friends here. It's the "off topic" corner of our world people. Either eliminate it, restrictively define it(so that it can only be about Lincoln Cents(which would really not be "off topic")), or get over it.

I really don't have a favorite team, but rather a favorite player(retired). I collect all things Nolan Ryan, and as a matter of fact, I was just poking around Ebay tonight for another Nolan Ryan/Kooseman rookie card.

I was lucky enough to see Nolan pitch 5 times. Three times as an Astro and twice as a Ranger. Classy guy, and hands down the most dominating pitcher of all-time. I saw him again about a year ago at an Express minor league game. Indeed a player to look up to.

          Sean,

I envy you. I was only able to see him on TV. I was extremely lucky though, and did watch his 7th no-hitter live. I also watched his 5000th K.

Alan Ashby used to be one of the radio announcers for the 'stros. He used to talk about that game a lot. He was the catcher. It was 1980 or 1981. I think I remember it was against the Dodgers.

Ah yes, back in the day with the rainbow uniforms. With team mates like Jose Cruz, Phil Garner, and Jesus Alou. I do not watch much anymore. The game has changed..and not for the better. This time next year the Astros will be in the AL. Oh how I hate the DH.

I hear you Sean. Remember when pitchers would toss complete games on three days rotation?

And it was ok for a batter to take a walk, rather than strike out on a pitch a full foot out of the strike zone.

I think we need to reinvent the game.

Back in the 80's and of course being a native NYer and living there, my best team was the METS (Any Bostinite know where they were in 86?! ....I do!!! ) Still like them. But when the 94 strike got as ugly and distasteful as it did, it was just a turn off for me. Just refused to watch a game till about 2005. Now I'm a Yankee fan living near Boston. My husband and children are Red Sox fans to the core so it makes for interesting game watching at home. Just can't get let go of my Mariano Rivera, the pitcher who revolutionized baseball with his cut fastball! . Yet I will say this, I love watching my son play a good game!! Nothing beats it! Just last weeks my sons All-Star team made it to the State Championship and were 3rd runner up out of 43 teams in the state!! Woohoo! Boy you should have seen him pitch! I'm a very proud mom!!

BTW my boys a collector of baseball cards. And he's got 3 Nolan Ryan BB cards.

You're too young to remember baseball in the 80's Busy!

It's good to hear your son likes the game. My son plays too. It's a great sport for kids.

Hmm, I've got around $10,000 worth of BB cards in my attic, from my old collecting days. Perhaps I should pull them out and get liquidating ;)
