I'm putting together a date set of all standard US coins from 1835. Here is my latest pickup...a large cent I won on ebay for $15. Still need the half cent, quarter, and dime...
Off the top of my head this seated 1864 came to mind for my quarters. Has to be my lowest minted as well! I received it through inheritance and haven't dove to deeply in to other denominations yet! A little from interest in silver a first!
Mike, that's a great coin. Coincidentally, the only Seated Liberty Quarter is one I too inherited (from my grandfather). It is a little newer than yours, but it is quite special because it was the oldest silver in my grandfather's collection.
That one really is a beauty Keith, although I'm not sure if the rim damage on the reverse would keep it from grading cleanly. They may also not like the odd coloring, as it kinda resembles environmental damage...but that's just me. Looks like an XF piece all day.
The coloring isn't as bad as it looks in the pictures. Had to lighten the colors digitally so you could actually make out the details. The real tones aren't as extreme. I do see your point about the rim damage though; honestly not sure if that's going to result in a details grade or not.
