I have never heard the term either. Are you talking about an unplated cent as in one that has the design but is missing a layer, or an unstruck cent that does not have a picture of Abraham Lincoln on it?

yes the unplated zink lincon cents [missing the copper coating ] you see thim for sale on e bay any a few other sites

that was why i asked if there was any way or site to help determan if one was real or fake or damaged as you say other than guesing i would hate to spend a lot of money for one to find out it was not the real thing not a dum question because i have seen a certified one by one of the grading compines thank you

You do have some spelling/typing issues in this response. I always use Firefox as a browser which has a lovely spell check function. It's "unattributed" "attributed" and "didn't"

And unplated cents are very rare. Probably as uncommon, or more, so than a Lincoln struck on a dime planchet. The number of altered versions is great. Even some slabbed coins are wrong.
