Putting away copper cents is wise, no way to argue with that when it's bullion value is 3x it's face value. Even Canadian cents (which you can melt) would be a good idea. Agreed on buying cast copper bullion, too high of a premium.

In the end, those who think it's not a good investment will still be arguing when the rest of us are cashing in.

Copper IS an industrial metal. Much of the copper produced is never recycled. Therefore, without an infinate supply of copper (and there is no infinite supply of ANYTHING), prices will increase with demand. Yes, demand and prices will result in greater production, but don't you think that the millionaires and billionaires who own and operate the mines are smart enough to not flood the market??

Prices of copper will continue to rise, as have bullion prices historically. A decade from now we'll all look back and not be able to believe that copper was once under $4 a pound! You don't have to agree, just wait and see it happen.

I am 100% in agreement with you on that Chris.

Once again - I am NOT debating the viability of investing in copper bullion - as long as you buy it in large volumes. Buying an ounce of copper here and a pound of copper there because it has a pretty design on it is a crappy investment. End of story, and I'm done with this thread. Heed the advice or ignore it, you're not losing my money so I don't care.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anyone lobbying strongly for purchasing 1 oz bars or ingots. My comments were in regard to whether copper could be a viable investment. I'm in agreement, purchasing pretty copper bars is a losing proposition, unless you don't want to cash in until the year 2121.

Copper cents sell at 1.5 X face, You either melt them illegally, sell them at 1.5 x face OR sit on them. Coppercoins had a good argument for that a while back. DO you sit on something for 10 years and sell at a profit OR do you keep your money in motion and reinvest it again and again or on something with a return.

I'll sell them for 1.5xFV...a 50% ROI is pretty good in anybody's book, even if you sit on them a year.

We were also selling them for 1.5x face, but now we're just socking them away. Too busy to sell them off for a small return, but they will bring stronger prices later on. When that happens, we'll be just fine.
