My dad had about 45 guns when he died. It took about 1 1/2 years to get it down to the ones I wanted to keep. I sold some I wanted to keep. There were just too many to keep up with. I kept most of the .22 lever actions and the guns I knew he had had for a long time. I sold a ruger .22 revolver and a Browning .22 lever too cheap. The rest I thought I did ok for not wanting to set up at gun shows. I like marlin and winchester .22 levers and vintage smith pistols(blue box with metal corners). I am not too much of an assault rifle fan. I guess that goes along with not collecting post 1958 cents.

I think it was Carmichael (or some other gun expert) who said "only accurate guns are interesting" and I agree with him. It does not matter what age/vintage, a gun that does not shoot right is of no use as a weapon. That is not to say that there's no interest in collector items. I do love well made old weapons that are not meant for use, also. Will trade my AU Details 1931-S for a working M1895 Mosin Nagant revolver
Really though. Only a small gun collection for me; revolvers and an old bolt action rifle. Don't like new firearms and not a fan of the gun enthusiast scene (too much ego for my liking, present company excepted of course!)Comment

Some actions that jam are the magazines fault. I've got a GSG MP5K that loves to jam after only a few rounds. Solution Remington Synthetic oil on the spring and base of the magazine works wonders - no jams feeds all 30 like a semi AKA. I love .22's I can put as many rounds into something as the bigger calibers but wont have two take a second mortgage for AMMO.... Heck I'm glad I bought what I did before the last incident... Ammo is scarce everywhere!!!Comment

All my guns (with the exception of my H&R Standard M48 shotgun) fire, and are quite accurateI think it was Carmichael (or some other gun expert) who said "only accurate guns are interesting" and I agree with him. Count me in. Right now it's all the long stuff though. I'm still looking for that perfect pistol. Here's a shot of my son at the firing range. And no, the muzzle flash is not Photoshopped, I was just firing away at 5 frames per second and got lucky.

I still prefer my 5 shot S&W model 36 for concealed carry. Small, light, good stopping power. Ammo capacity is not a problem if you aim, plus most situations where it would be needed don't even last five shots.Comment
