    Powerball odds test - ***CONTEST***

I am running a continuously calculating Powerball test just to see how long it would take the average person to win the Powerball.

The simulator runs quick picks two times a week every week with different picks each time.

So far it has been running at one year per second, and is 2,400 game-years in. The largest tickets won to date are $200 tickets - so far 30 winning $200 tickets.

Zero tickets are winners of 4 matches or 4 matches with the Powerball...and of course no jackpot winner matching all five white balls with the Powerball.

So my total games played to date is around 250,000 with $750,000 spent ($3 per ticket). Total earnings to date are around $100,000 for a total net return on each dollar spent of a measly 14 cents.

I am going to let this simulator run in the background until it hits the jackpot.

    A contest:

Guess the closest to the number of games it will take to win the jackpot. You already know that number is above 250,000.

Prize to be determined, worth $25. Get guessing!

One guess per person only, please. No more updates on the game until it ends. I will give participants three days from right now to submit their guesses. I am figuring the game will finish by then, but if not, the announcement will be made when the game does end.

Good luck! God knows your chances are better of winning here than playing that stupid lottery.

I am going to say it's a lot of games. I'll go with 150 million games.

So is this what Software Engineers do when they get bored with SQL and looking at cents!!

          My guess is...

It NEVER wins. At some point you will give up and turn the simulator off.

Or the computer farts and restarts itself. At which point I will have to restart the contest too.

                1,200,000 games.

But did you say 14 cents on the dollar ? That sounds like a great investment. I may start playing !

P.S. Thanks for the contest !

Yes, 14 cents RETURNED for every dollar INVESTED. It's not +14%, it's a NEGATIVE 86%.

14,000,000..... The "return" amounts always make me recall a guy I worked with. He said he played the slots because they returned 6 cents for every dollar he played. No matter how much we tried, we could not make him see that meant he was losing 94 cents...
