1980 Canadian cent with double denticles

What do you guys think about this? This is interesting. Denticle tracks on rim and extra denticles in between the regular denticles. Not sure what the cause is.
Did you notice them also on the rim. Looks like the ones on the rim line up with the denticles but the extra ones in between line up with the gaps in between the denticles.

Yes, I did notice. I just wonder what caused that.

Maybe something like machine doubling? The coin bounced after the strike and made contact with the die.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think it could be a " Rim restricted second strike". After looking at both the obverse and reverse, it kind of looks that way. Let's see what the pros think. Here is a link.

It could be... I did notice in the explanation for the Lincoln on Error Ref that for a rim-restricted second strike that design elements will be on both sides... There is also rim-restricted design duplication that has the duplication on one side only but is only on the side with the hammer die... Any idea which side is the hammer die???

Sheila, can you get us a closeup of the obverse rim in the 9 to 10 o'clock area and 1 to 2 o'clock area?

It is traditionally the obverse die, I think but don't know if that holds true with foreign coins.

Well, look at you Dan, thanks!! Here is the link, (http://coinsandcanada.com/coins-pric...cent-1965-1989) . It is listed under "
Miscellaneous / Unclassified " and simply "denticals on colar". The listed one looks slightly different but would appear to be the same type of anomaly.
