Those beard enhancements are great. I've seen those beard enhancements before but can't recall which year(s).

May have been on another site.

How about the motto on the 72 cents master doubled die MD-5-O-I+II.
It always confused me, the doubling on liberty looks like it came from the doubled master but most of what we see on the motto looks re-engraved not like a doubled die of any sort. Especially the N of IN, E of WE, U of TRUST. To me it clearly looks like they re-engraved it.

In listings for it they always show the motto and say it is from the doubled master but never say it is re-engraved?
Am I wrong or what is it from?

Die varieties such as doubled dies, Repunched mint marks (RPMs), Over Mint Marks (OMMs), Repunched Dates, Overdates, coin design varieties, as well as regular coins and error coins.

SHHHHHH!!! Jody and I were going to blow that one up next. It's actually been on my list for a while, but other discoveries keep getting in the way. You are correct, of course.

Didn't want to take away from your thread, Cliff, but I just found one that appears similar to yours. I posted it here if you want to take a look.

I appreciate the education I get here about the kind of microscopic (but quite interesting) phenomena that generally escapes my macroscopic gaze. I see our work as complementing each other's.
