So do you still feel this seller should have gone through HA instead of eBay? The seller's premium is a lot less at eBay."If Free Speech stops when someone gets offended, it is not really Free Speech."Comment

Here is the answer I got from the seller of this 92 CAM. :It was found in a little mini hoard of cents put together from the early 1990'sComment

NGC:
1992-P CAM.....POP 3.......MS62 None Better (one is a AU55)
1992-D CAM.....POP 5.......MS65 None Better (Lowest graded one is MS62)
ANACS:
1992-P CAM......POP 0
1992-D CAM......POP5
RED: 1@MS63
RED/BROWN: 1@MS62
BROWN: 3@AU55 and 2@AU58
some coins may have been sent for reholdering...no one knows the answer to that...
but the point here is that these are not "found in OBW or mint set grades"
these coins were found in circulation.
except for this coin now for sale, which i have not heard a peep about where it came from,I would be 99% sure these were all circulation finds.Comment

The POP reports are upside down- I've handled 4 different PCGS examples. 2 AU58s, 1 AU55 and a PCGS Genuine. I also know of 2 others in old ANACS holders- an AU58 and an MS65 and both came out of the same mint bag. Additionally, ANACS hasn't recorded populations for half a decade.Chris & Charity Welch- LIVEANDIEVARIETIES

I think the bottom line here folks is that whether this coin was "saved" back in'92 for its rotated reverse (im not buying it) or found in circulation (probably not so given the condition) there exists a very real possibility that this seller has found several of them. He tells mainman its from a small hoard. Well, I guess im wondering if the hoard is full of examples. Just seems strange to me that this coin which was unknown last week appears after that big sale of the'92-d CAM.
Well, maybe not particularly strange given the fortune to be made, but im skeptical nonetheless. You might see another gem example hit the market in short order.
Thats the risk you take with any "rare" modern variety.Comment

Whether there is small hoard or not (and that may be the case), it seems only a matter of time until a bunch of these CAMs come onto the market. I don't seem them ever being common, or cheap; but I cannot seeing them staying in a population under 20 nor commanding premiums over 10k.

I'm with you on this one. I would never even consider spending 10k on a coin like this when who knows how many more are out there to be found. Someone could have a hoard of 100 of these just waiting to kill the market. Maybe in 10-20 more year is no more are found i will be convinced but until then i will just wait for more to pop up and the price to drop down.Casey ParmanComment
