Jim, I'm glad I found another one of these (3 now) because it takes me back to this thread to see that I forgot to thank you for the disc with the images of the "Snail Tracks".
    So.......... Thank you!

(Yep same exact die with matching scratches and long die crack over the E of EPU as well as the wavy lines on the reverse. EDS with no die flow lines)

I hadn't considered it because he replied earlier in the thread.
But I'll go ahead do that, just in case he would like an in hand look.

Got a PM back from Mike Diamond about looking at this in hand.

"It's interesting, but I doubt I can make any headway with it. Some mysteries are destined to remain so."

I really appreciate him taking the time to reply because I can only imagine how time consuming this must be for him with numismatics as a profession. Millions of collectors out here with questions.
            Thanks again Mike.

Perhaps these squiggles represent hubbed-in lint. That would be consistent with the way the squiggles run from the field onto the design without any change in clarity. As far as numismatics being a "profession", it just ain't so. I earn a modest income from my Coin World columns and usually turn a small profit whenever I decide to sell a coin. But like most of you, I'm just in it for the fun.

Thanks Mike for the additional input and for all the other times you help.
Your passion, knowledge, experience, honesty and interest in our hobby is inspiring and so appreciated.
I have a lot of respect for you and others who might not consider themselves professionals. Because of your knowledge, professionalism (yes, I use that word as a sign of respect and admiration) and hard work, you help others and raise awareness of what we all enjoy doing. You and others share the "light of knowledge" with us all.

And you must really enjoy collecting with all the time you (and others on this site and elsewhere) put into this hobby, even "after hours", responding to emails and PM's.

Again I say thank you with the utmost gratitude and respect.
                    Cliff
