Welcome to the LCF... Nice pics for a first post... Your coin is damaged... We call that Post Strike Damage (PSD)... It was damaged after the coin was struck at the mint!!!

Welcome to the forum. This is just the result of someone with too much time on their hands playing around in the garage. lol. It is simply not possible for a coin to be struck like that and have all of its design.

I would be SO mad if I found this, and it turned out to be a DDO-001!

Yes, I found one of them in circulation many moons ago. To have one mangled like that would be a shame.

It's not one, he said "if". The correct term is "doubled die". Welcome to the forum and continue to post pics and questions!

Here you go... From our Glossary
Doubled Die: A coin that has been struck by a die which experienced an unintended misalignment or design inconsistency during the hubbings used to create it, resulting in a “doubling” of the devices on the coin. Doubled Dies are classified by 9 distinct classes. Class 1 (Rotated), Class 2 (Distorted), Class 3 (Design), Class 4 (Offset), Class 5 (Pivoted), Class 6 (Distended), Class 7 (Modified), Class 8 (Tilted), and Class 9 (Shifted). Please see the individual listings of each class for definitions and examples.

The tab for our Glossary is at the top of the page... Lots of good info in there... That's just the beginning

You should try to start a new thread for each coin you wish to discuss as you will see more responses. That said , this coin has a nice struck through error reverse ! An object came between the die and the planchette and this coin was struck through that object. Cool find !

So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John

It does look like a nice strike through... What does the obv look like??? Like Stoneman stated it is much better to start a separate thread for each coin so that you get more looks and comments... Once I learn how to I can move the threads as needed!!!

Jim, just message me anytime and I will happily talk you through how to move, merge, split and change thread titles etc. Speaking from experience, this is 99% of what you will (and should) do as a moderator, with the occasional exception of censoring big-mouths such as myself. I was still secretly performing these duties until yesterday when my tools disappeared. The new job doesn't come with a description and operator's manual, but if you want, I will explain anything to you that you want. Up to you. Best wishes.
