From what I have seen at the local Fed facility, I think they ship coins in bins these days, not bags. And "bag marks" would apply to any coin on coin contact leaving a mark or dent on the coin. That would include when the coins tumble into the bin fresh from the press. Though the term originates from the time the Fed did bag coins. Don't know if all this is 100% correct but I'm pretty confident it is.
Bags from the Feds ended sometime around 2000. After that, you get bricks of rolls from rolling outfits that roll what they get in bins or from banks randomly mixed and put it in boxes of rolls that might be solid new, all old or mixed. Anything that won't fit in a roll would turn up at those places, unlike the old days where you might get neat stuff in a bag.Comment

Just have to let everyone know that thanks to Jim I can see ........ all the avatars. Yeaaaa!!!
I've been thinking y'all were crazy when the subject occasionally turned to an avatar. Thought everyone was seeing things.
Jim got me poking around and all it took was to adjust my settings. Duh.
It's like: "I can see, I can see, I can see."
Some really cool ones here.Comment

And I received a reply to my email inquiry to John Wexler. He was interested in attributing the coin but made no mention of having viewed the thread. He did say if it was as impressive as I made it sound he may be able to use it in his Variety Notebook column. Now I'm just waiting to see if he would like both coins at the same time to compare for markers. Fingers will be crossed when I get it in the mail (hopefully this week).Comment

So I've been searching quite a few bricks over the past several months. There's been talk out there about people hoarding the 17-P's. I've been finding quite a few with no problem.
You know what I have noticed during my searches? "Very few" Bicentennial 2009's, the Birth & Early Childhood, Formative Years, Professional Life and the Presidency from where I sit. Have you guys noticed that?Comment
